My Approach
I take a lifestyle documentary approach to portrait photography. I strive to capture the intimacy of your life while creating works of art that you can be proud of. I use light posing and direction to achieve imagery that reflects you and your family's personality, charisma, and character while maintaining skilled composition.
About Me
I have always had a passion for art. Many of my childhood memories are with a pencil or marker in hand. My grade school papers were always cluttered with rough sketches of my classmates and teachers. I studied art in college and traveled to Florence and Paris to study Renaissance and Impressionism. I spent much of my time oil painting. Fresh from college and looking to broaden my horizons, I purchased my first professional camera - and I was hooked. I said goodbye to my neglected paints and tucked my easel deep into the closest. I ventured into the world of photography and I have not looked back. My background in art plays an inseparable role in my photography. I think about the direction of light, negative space, leading lines and so many other fundamental aspects of art as I compose a photograph. My imagery is rich, thick, and full of color and contrast - just like my oil paintings.
Associations
I continue to stay up to date with the ever changing world of photography by attending conferences and workshops many times throughout the year. I started the Seattle Wedding Industry Professionals (SWIP) network which is collaborative of local wedding vendors who assist brides and grooms with wedding planning and share a meeting space. I am also a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, Photographik, Senior Portrait Artists, Greener Photography, and Modern Photographers.
