Engagement at Discovery Park
Dawn and Ron met me in the morning on a slightly rainy day for their engagement photos at Discovery Park. These two are getting hitched in just one week at Golden Gardens.

Engagement at Arboretum and Sculpture Park
Mindi and Ben met me at the Washington State Arboretum for some relaxed natural portraits and then we hopped on over the SAM Olympic Sculpture Park for fun urban portraits. These guys took goofy to a another level! I really enjoyed their random modifications to the poses I suggested :)

Engagement in Snoqualmie Pass
Lauren and Brent met me near Snoqualmie Pass for their engagement session. They knew of some great tucked away locations with beautiful waterfall, forest, and river views. It was a lot of fun, especially with their dog Marley in tow.

Engagement at Pioneer Square and Carkeek Park
Meredith and Luke met me downtown in Pioneer square and we hit the Seattle Public Library and King Street Station for some fun and stylistic photographs. We then hurried over to Carkeek Park for the last moments of the sunset at high tide.

Wedding season must have begun!
Here I thought wedding season was not going to truly start until July, but since it’s been hard keeping up on everything (let alone blogging it), I herby declare that wedding season has arrived this Solstice weekend!
Here are a few peeks to some work that is in progress, such as Vilija and Trevor at Gasworks Park:

Dawn and Ron at Discovery Park

And not to forget, Mindy and Ben at Olympic Sculpture Park

Engagement at Greenlake
Exactly one month ago, Ruth and Jeff moved into a condo just a couple of blocks from my place on Greenlake, so naturally we decided that an engagement session on Greenlake would be ideal! The sunlight was PERFECT, so warm and soft. We had to dodge runners, bikers, and skaters right and left as we snapped pictures. I am really looking forward to their wedding in October on the Skansonia ferry boat on Lake Union.

Engagement at Carkeek Park
Martha and Kevin are getting married in Maui this fall so they wanted to find a Seattle based photographer to do their photos near a beach. They came all the way from Moses Lake for their photos! I loved the way Kevin looked after Martha as they moved around the beach at Carkeek Park.

Engagement at Lake Union Park
Michelle and Dan live in the South Lake union neighborhood of Seattle so we decided that the new Lake Union Park would be a great place to start for their engagement session. We ended up hitting the Center for Wooden Boats, wandered the industrial neighborhoods, and then took a trolley to Pike’s Place Market. Michelle and Dan are getting married in October at Salish Lodge.

Safeco Field Engagement Session
If you’re wondering where to go in the rain, think of Safeco field ballpark! The roof kindly blocked all of the rain, but left us with a nice outdoors atmosphere. Mandi and Chris treated me to a fun tour insiders tour of Safeco field taking photo opportunities along the way. Mandi was a ball girl for the mariners and Chris was a ball player around the time they met so Safeco field has a special place in their relationship — not to mention that they are huge fans and attend a game every month.

Lake Washington Engagement Photos
Heather and Tom introduced me to an area around Mount Baker Boat House and Genesee Park. There were small beaches, docks, beautiful spring blooms, and waddling geese which made for the perfect early scenic backdrop. We met early in the morning when the sun just started burning through the clouds. We moved around a small area all the while enjoying good converstation.

Engagement Session at Greenlake Part II
Vilija and Trevor brought their little bulldog puppy, Oden, to their engagement session. I think Oden has a modeling career ahead of him! He was the best dog I have worked with. Not to mention that he got a lot of attention from the Greenlake power walkers. I had met with Vilija and Trevor back when Oden had just been with them for under a week and he was just a small mass of adorable wrinkles. Trevor is a photographer himself and will even have some of his photos published in a dog enthusiast magazine. I look foward to their wedding at the end May!

Engagement Session at Greenlake
Today I walked with Vilija, Trevor, Oden (little bulldog puppy), and Ryan (bulldog wrangler) upwards of 2 miles snapping pictures at Greenlake and the surrounding areas of my gallery. Here’s a quick sneak peak from their engagement session.
I also want to give y’all a heads up that a new fresh look is coming to our website soon, so remember to check back April 1st — that’s right, on April fools day!

Engagement Session at University Village
Heather and James are visiting Seattle from Arizona to tour their wedding desitination, Roche Harbor on San Juan Island. We meandered around U Village for their engagement session this morning just after 9am. Heather and James, traveling from 90 degree weather, were quickly shivering and cuddling in the early morning chill. We were happy to have sunny skies though! There were so many great walls, textures, and props at uvillage that I have added it to my favorite Seattle engagement locations list.

Mesa Art Center Engagement
There are few places I’ve been that have the kind of rich, warm sunlight of Phoenix, Arizona. I suppose that’s why they call it the Valley of the Sun. Though I like the mild temperatures of Seattle, visiting Phoenix in the winter is a nice getaway. I enjoy capturing weddings there during the winter. So while you’re getting soaked sipping hot coffee during our infamous Winter Storms – you may find me shooting a wedding or two in the warm glow of Phoenix!
In fact, this past weekend I was in Phoenix visiting Tabetha and Travis, who’ve asked me to shoot their wedding come fall. We hit the Mesa Arts Center because of its impressive canvas of colors and textures. We had a good time and I can’t wait to see them again at their wedding in Scottsdale.
Thankfully, Heather and James found time to visit with me as well. They want to escape the heat and get married at the beautiful Roche Harbor Resort on San Juan Island. They’re such a fun couple and have a great idea for an engagement photo session. Not telling, you’ll have to wait until March when they visit Seattle!

And a small collection of some art shots from my trip….

Engagement Photos at Greenlake Park in the Fall
I met Ginny and Adam at Greenlake Park yesterday for their engagement session. We planned the session for Tuesday because it was the one day this week that the forecasted showers dipped below 60%. And we lucked out with some beautiful sunlight here and there. Just as we were about to wrap up, some amazing storm clouds moved in. I grabbed a great shot of them with the clouds looming behind ready to dump heavy rain! I look forward to Ginny and Adam’s wedding this summer aboard the Argosy Cruise.

Engagement Photos at Lake Union
Marian and Rick live near Lake Union so we were excited to do their engagement photos right in their neighborhood. We called the session off twice on Sunday before deciding to actually go ahead with the session. Every time blue sky peaked out, the gray clouds pushed them back and sent rain and wind. Nevertheless, we braved what the weather had in store and it turned out fabulous! I am very excited for their wedding this August at Willow’s lodge in Woodinville.
Engagement Photos at Pikes Place Market and Arboretum
Molly and Rick are getting married in September of 2009 and so we thought catching some of the colorful autumn leaves would be ideal. We met up at my favorite spot of the Arboretum at the University of Washington. The sunlight was golden and so yummy! These two were naturals and so sweet. We then hit Pikes Place Market and Post Ally for some urban-style Seattle shots. Looking forward to your wedding!
Great engagement portrait locations in Seattle
For some reason I thought Fall 2008 would be relatively slow. After all, the wedding season here in Seattle comes to a close in September. Apparently the stars weren’t aligned though – as I’ve been really busy finishing albums, meeting new couples who are tying the knot in 2009, and shooting some really fantastic engagement sessions.
As a result, my promises of answering common questions via my blog have taken somewhat of a back seat. So invoking work hours not seen since my college midterm days – I’m taking a deep breath, investing in caffeinated beverages, and we’ll see how many questions I can answer before collapsing.
E-Session Sneak Preview
Wow, I had such a great engagement session with Molly and Rick at the arboretum… More to come soon!
Urban Engagement Session with Railroad Tracks and Graffiti
Kara and Ben let me pick an urban style setting for their engagement session. We ended up down in south Seattle and took advantage of some of the brick buildings, fun architecture, graffiti, and railroad tracks. These two are so comfortable together and laughter was never in short supply.

Engagement Session at Discovery Park
I met up with Lindsey and Brett bright and early for an engagement session at Discovery Park. These guys are getting married in New Orleans but wanted to their engagement session out here while they were in town. Brett insisted on nothing cheesy, which turned out to be just about everything! They were both full of laughter and it was easy to capture their playful nature. Thank you guys, I am going to miss out on your wedding! I am sure it will be beautiful.

Engagement Session at Pikes Place Market
Diana works in downtown Seattle so it was just a simple jaunt to Pikes Place Market to meet up with Aaron for their engagement session. We started by grabbing a bundle of flowers (so pretty!) and then hit Post Alley and then we finished with my favorite shot of the public market sign.

Marlo and Dillon Engagement – Arboretum Seattle
Marlo and Dillon went to the arboretum on their first date and a little later Dillon proposed in a small clearing of the park. We set out to create some casual, spontaneous images of Marlo and Dillon while incorporating some of the elements of the park that are special to them. We spent a lot of time playing in the summer grass and walking along the paths. We even found a small pond for Marlo and Dillon to cool their feet. These guys are planning a destination wedding to Mexico next Spring! Congratulations!
