Seattle Boudoir Photography | New Website
It’s new, it’s hip – it’s all the rage. And now, to better showcase my Boudoir Photography I’ve officially launched www.BoudoirPhotographySeattle.com.
Make an appointment today to visit my studio and view a sampling of albums and books. Or, view the informative brochure (the last page illustrates a sample of the albums available).
What is boudoir?
Boudoir photographs, also known as Glamour or Pin-Up style photographs, are tasteful and intimate portraits of yourself that can be used as a gift or even as a keepsake for yourself. The goal of a boudoir session is to feel fabulous in your own skin, have a little fun, and capture your body as well as your spirit. These images are often delivered in the form of loose prints, retouched digital files, or even in a small album or magazine style book. Our Wallingford Penthouse Studio provides a natural & sensual, environment for boudoir images that many studios cannot match. You can bring friends (and even a little bubbly) to help you feel comfortable. My assistant and I are there to show you various poses and make you look fantastic. You can bring lingerie, bras, corsets, mini skirts, jeans – whatever you feel sexy in! It’s also fun to bring props such as a music instrument, sports jersey, or the like.
Happy Anniversary! (and more sneak peeks)

Introducing the Photo Booth
How do you want to remember your guests? Hastily scribbled signatures in your guestbook, prints from disposable cameras, unflattering tableshots — or in timeless portraits that are sure to find their rightful place in your album? Often quirky, but always cheerful, my photo booth encourages your guests to come together and remind you with their bright smiles and silly props that they shared in the happiness of your special day even if you couldn’t spend the time you may have liked to with them given the demands of the day.
You can choose between a black or white background, or try both to produce a wonderful checkerboard page for your wedding album like I’ve done below. I bring the props – your friends and family need only bring the smiles.

A Weekend of Learning
Mingling with multiple photographers, all from this side of the country, is an opportunity I didn’t want to miss! So I registered early and spent this past weekend at the OSP West conference in Seattle. It was pretty easy to spot my colleagues throughout town — each with a camera body or two swinging carelessly from their necks =) Over the course of two days, I had the unique opportunity to lead three groups of photographers in posing and photographing three stunning senior models. If that wasn’t enough, I enjoyed listening to several inspiring photographers talk on subjects ranging from exploring light to album design. Many of them were at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International Convention I went to in Vegas a couple of months ago.
I also took advantage of an all-day PPA Super Monday course in Olympia with Kari Blunk and Ben Leavitt learning the ropes of lighting and posing. I believe they are offering a similar course again in May, and photographers shouldn’t miss it! I enjoyed a hands-on experience with outdoor lighting at midday as well as portrait studio lighting, posing, and much more.
Below is a group photo of my OSP senior portrait paparazzi in action and under that a group photo from the PPA Super Monday class.

Below is a small collection of some of the images I caught of Nyema (left), Jesse (center), and Alicia (right) while leading my groups.

I just joined the Seattle Wedding Industry Professionals. SWIP is a new collaborative of independent wedding professionals who share a boutique meeting space in Seattle. We support each other with inspiration, referrals, and exposure. For those of you who are busy wedding planning, this is great place to meet with a small group of some of Seattle’s best wedding vendors in just one stop! It also means that after four years of meeting my couples at the nearest Starbucks, I finally have a luxury meeting space!

A special valentines gift that will sizzle.
Have you thought about what to give your valentine? Boudoir photographs, also known as Glamour or Pin-Up style photographs, are tasteful and intimate portraits of yourself. This boudoir marathon is hardly a race; I reserve a luxury hotel suite in Seattle and invite women to fill private time slots throughout the day. The sessions will be held in the morning and afternoon to utilize the daylight coming through the windows. The one hour session includes 40-50 fully retouched digital images released to you on a compact disc. The images will arrive and be available online with enough time to order prints for Valentines day.
Available Time Slots
11:00am, 12:15pm, 1:30pm, 2:45pm

Honey, I’m home!
I’ve been back in town for a few days now, but what with everything going on I haven’t had a change to post an update. Stay tuned for the rest of Kara and Ben’s wedding, more pics from Italy, and some exciting news!
Ciao!
My husband and I have decided to give thanks in Italy this year. So it’s off to visit Rome and Florence for one week. I will return the first week of December. In parting, I leave you with a teaser image from Kara and Ben’s wedding. Congrats on a beautiful wedding!
Triple Wedding Weekend
I just wrapped up a triple wedding weekend! Just one image to preview, more to come soon…

Boudoir Photography

My passion and work is wedding photography and every so often, a bride will email or call and ask in a quiet voice, “do you also do boudoir photography? I’d like to do something special for Mr. X.” Well, yes I do! Boudoir photographs are tasteful, intimate portraits of yourself that can be used as a gift to your groom or even a keepsake for yourself. These images are often given in the form of loose prints, retouched digital files, or even in a small album or magazine style book.
Every fall and spring I hold what is called a “marathon” boudoir session. This is hardly a race; I reserve a luxury hotel suite in downtown Seattle and invite women to fill private time slots throughout the day. A hotel provides a natural, often sensual, environment for boudoir images that many studios cannot match. You can bring friends (and even a little bubbly) to help you feel comfortable. I have even had brides give these sessions to their bridesmaids as gifts! My assistant and I are there to show you various poses and make you look fantastic. You can bring lingerie, bras, corsets, mini skirts, jeans — whatever you feel sexy in! It’s also fun to try a “theme” and bring props such as a music instrument, sports jersey, or the like. The goal is to feel fabulous in your own skin, have a little fun, and capture your body as well as your spirit.
The next session is on October 4th and 5th – only one month away! The following time slots are available:
Saturday, October 4th
3:00pm, 4:15pm, 5:30pm, 6:45pm, 8:00pm
Sunday, October 5th
9:15am, 10:30am
What people have said…
“You made it so comfortable and fun! I’m so glad I took the plunge and did it! I can’t wait to see the book!”
“Just wanted to thank you again for doing the pictures last night. You are great at making people feel at ease and not self conscious. Really appreciate it! ”
“I have to say, you really captured some great pictures of me. I love how you made my eyes shine! I can’t wait to show the photos to my fiance. I will have to wait for a special night. Thank you for making the shoot comfortable and fun. It was just wonderful and I would do it again in a heartbeat!”
“I was very comfortable and at ease with the both of you. It was like hanging out with my girlfriends. I could tell you had put alot of thought into what you were looking for and thank goodness cuz I was rusty. LOL.”

Het Hitched Give Hope
I recently learned about a charity event for brides and grooms. If you are still shopping for wedding vendors, I would encourage you to attend Get Hitched Give Hope on October 23rd. This is a great way to bid on some of Seattle’s top wedding vendors and give back to the community in the process, and maybe even win some prizes. Everything will be donated to Brides Against Breast Cancer and the Making Memories Foundation.
Check it out, www.gethitchedgivehope.com .

In A Frame Photography in the newspaper!
Treehouse Point was recently featured in an article about green weddings. Look for one of my images used in the article. You can read the full story here. The article includes some great ideas on how to easily incorporate green practices into your wedding. Also, keep an eye out at Junebug Wedding’s Blog for a story about treehouse point!

Out of the Office
I will be out of the office until January 9th 2008 attending the DWF wedding photography convention in Florida. Should you need to reach me, I will still answer email and voice mail frequently.
Have a Happy New Year!
New blog (!!!) and studio shoot
Today is really shaping up in a super fun day! I am excited to launch this NEW, BIGGER and BETTER blog! My favorite new feature will be the ability to leave comments. This blog is looking pretty bare, so if you see something you like, please drop a line a or two! Sometimes my amazing genius comes out (much less frequently than I would prefer) and today was such a day — I was able to import all of my older posts.
Also, my good friend Larry Kim opened a new studio in South Seattle. He invited me over and introduced me to Sarah Rhoads (a super amazing photographer) and we got to play for a little while. Unfortunately we didn’t have any specimens to shoot, so we had to take pictures of ourselves.
And finally, the best part of all — I got to shoot my first “trash the dress session” with Jenna and Dare. I was so stoked and just thrilled with the sunny weather. So check back soon to see the session.

This is Larry:

And this is Sarah:

This is me:

And this is Sarah and Chris (aka “hubby”):

And we have a winner!
Nancy took advantage of the extra hour early this morning from day light savings to email me and claim her free engagement session and ipod nano. Thank you Nancy for checking the blog and claiming your winnings! And thank you to every one else for participating.
My new office!
I just secured my own personal office. Historically I have shared an office with my dear husband and recently we have begun to feel growing pains. This was evident by a strict guideline of boundaries and the fear of each other “encroaching” on *our* space. So when this teeny tiny (and I mean microscopic) space right next door became available, we checked it out. And whoolah! I have space for my desk and meetings with clients. So all of you that have just been dying to look at the latest and greatest of our albums and products — give me a call and I would love to show you! That is, of course, once I get some paint on those walls and carpet on the floor.
It is located just south of Woodland Park Zoo and Green Lake on Highway 99 and is easily accessible by both car and by bus. Many of my senior sessions are done within a one block radius of this place and it is a short drive to many other great portrait locations.
