Seattle Wedding Show | Announcements – Announcements!
I seem to recall a girl’s camp song that went similar to my blog title. Whenever a camp leader got up to make some announcement we’d all scream “announcements, announcements — announcements!” That was usually followed by the “have you have heard a windbag, a windbag — she’s talking right now.” Well now you get both, a windbag and announcements. :)
Here’s a quick recap to highlight a few things going on around here.
In A Frame Photography is at the Seattle Wedding Show
It’s the largest wedding show on the West Coast, and 2010 marks my first year with a booth at the Seattle Wedding Show. I’m excited to see new faces and make new friends. Come by and say ‘hi’! View the new albums, meet a few of my past brides, and take advantage of our show special. I’m Booth # 118.

Valentines Marathon II | Sold Out
I’m holding part II of my popular Valentines Boudoir Marathon on Jan 31. I’m excited – and look forward to seeing those who booked!
A New Studio
In A Frame Photography is now located in Wallingford, in our brand new “Penthouse Studio.”
A New Boudoir Website
To better showcase Boudoir Photography, I gave my portfolio, gallery, and other helpful information a new home. www.BoudoirPhotographySeattle.com
Orcas Island
I just returned from a three day trip to Orcas Island. I was invited by a local Orcas resident to capture high school senior portraits for three of the island’s graduates. You can see the resulting slideshow on my Seattle Senior Portraits website very soon. Orcas is a special place for my husband and I, as we got married there 3 years ago this month. I have also captured several weddings out in the San Juans and so I am reminded of many celebrations as we stroll the area. Here is an image at sunset.

More Seattle Wedding Photography to come!
I am very excited to post a few new weddings in the next week or so. Everyone is waiting so patiently, so please check back soon!
My husband and I just returned from an amazing vacation. After working so hard every weekend this summer, we decided to take a much needed retreat. Perhaps we should have sought some rest and relaxation? But instead we decided to go on a 17-mile backpacking trip in Yellowstone backcountry! We spent three days and two nights out in the middle of nowhere. And the best part of the trip… the ENTIRE DAY we spent by Heart Lake doing NOTHING at all. Well, we of course hiked around, basked in the scenery, and I took pictures — yet it was so enjoyable to think of nothing else but the beauty of the landscape and wildlife around us. Yellowstone is like no other place with it’s spectacular hot springs and geysers. Enjoy some photos!

Just a few miles from the end of our trip we came across these tracks. Bear tracks? We thought so! We picked up our pace, located our bear spray, and started singing “99 bottles of bear on the wall.” I was actually kind of bummed we never ran into a bear, just think of the photo op! =)

Figgy Pudding!
I have mentioned it before, but it is worth repeating…. the best way to get into the Holiday Spirit this year is at the The Great Figgy Pudding Street Corner Caroling Competition!
Details: Friday, December 7, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM!!! @ the Westlake Mall in downtown Seattle.
The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition is one of the most looked-forward-to holiday events in Seattle, attracting over 5,000 attendees every year. 40+ caroling teams compete in this zany competition where you will see everything from dancing lawyers, to costumed co-workers, to Von Trapp-like families. This event benefits the Pike Market Senior Center and Food bank. All of the carolers will have a hat or box in front for donations, stuff your pockets with dollar bills and let them know you appreciate their efforts! Dress warm as it is usually freezing at this event.
This is a great Christmas event! Don’t miss it!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
I can not begin to tell you how much I love looooove the Holiday Season. After enjoying a warm Thanksgiving Dinner I am excited to celebrate my favorite time of the year. I love the hustle, the bustle, the bitter cold, the lights, the music, the food, the trees, heck, I even love the comercialism of Christmas. It’s time to crank up Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole on the old record player and trim up the pine tree! To start off the Season, my husband and I joined thousands of others to watch the westlake center tree and the 50-year old macy’s star light up.

If you are looking for something festive to do this season, my favorite event is the Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition at Westlake Center in downtown. Every year 40+ caroling teams compete to bennefit the Pikes Marketplace Senior Center. I have seen everything from tap dancers to singing hot peppers!
Leavenworth
It may seem like all I do is shoot weddings on the weekends, but sometimes I take a weekend off and enjoy the great Northwest. One of the many reasons I choose to live here in Seattle is the sheer number of great locations to visit, all within a short drive.
I’m the oldest sister of a four-girl family – after some prodding I convinced two of them to fly out for a weekend visit (the last I apparently didn’t prod enough). My husband suggested we take them to Oktoberfest in Leavenworth — which he claims it wasn’t for women dressed up in Bavarian costumes. *cough cough*
Be warned – for sake of keeping everyone happy and not having to pose with my professional gear – I took along our little point and shoot camera.

The picture doesn’t give proper credit to how HUGE this dinner platter we shared was. We got to enjoy all of the German favorites such as Schweinshax’n (rotisseried broiled pork hock), Chicken Munich Style (rotisseried chicken), Schweine Schnitzel (breaded, pan fried pork cutlet), sausages, Bavarian Potato Salad, Winekraut, Rotkraut (Red Cabbage) and Spätzle. Don’t actually ask me to pronounce everything though. :)

Goofing around…
Dana was such a good sport hanging out with three girls. I hope he get’s used to it! I am the third generation of all girls, and want to carry it on!

It was minature golf – sorta. None of your standard obstacles like windmills and fake hills. Just check out my sis Janae assessing her unfortunate shot into the sand trap.

The weekend ended with Sunday breakfast – compliments of my husbands cooking. Dungess Crab Eggs Benedict – - it’s hard to say it and not want more.
And of course – no trip is complete without a walk through the Pike Place Market.

Race for the cure!
This morning started early, at quest field for the 14th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Thanks to Jen from Every Moment Photo for organizing a few photographers to have the opportunity to volunteer! I came to capture promotional photos for their website and thankyou cards. Once pledges and other donations are tallied, the race will have raised nearly two million toward medical research and education for the treatment and prevention of breast cancer. The day was a pink explosion, and women wearing pink t-shirts were breast cancer survivors. It was a lot of fun and very motivational. These women are tough!

New York City!
My husband and I took off after the wedding to New York City by greyhound bus (only $20/ticket!). After arriving at the station in the late evening we walked by timesquare on the way to our hotel. The following day we saw all the sights from the top of the empire state bulding, browsed the vast collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, row boated in the rain at Central Park, and dined in Little Italy. Unfortunately we had to leave the next day. I have traveled the lengths of the US and Europe, but this is my first time in New York City and I was very impressed. We managed to use the subways and trains without ever stepping into a cab. You gotta love mass public transit!
We purchased an inexpensive digital camera to use for travel. It wasn’t soon before I missed the flexibility and control I have with my pro gear. But, it served it’s purpose as an easy to carry way to document our trip. Gee, it’s amazing how small these things are!

Whitefish, MT
This past weekend my husband and I went to Whitefish, Montana by rail to visit my family. My parents moved to Whitefish last fall so that my father could run an art gallery out there. We had a blast. It was difficult to get back on that train. It is a beautiful area with Glacier National Park nearby. We went paddle boating and fishing on Lake McDonald.

One Year Cellebration!
My husband and I have officially been married for a year! In celebration we boarded the “Spirit of Washington” dinner train. The train advertises that it goes 25mph all the way up to the Columbia Winery, and back down again. However, upon boarding, they informed us all that it would be a “leisurely 10mph” ride due to technical difficulties — and we wouldn’t be able to visit the winery. “Leisurely” probably isn’t the word to use — painfully slow is more like it. Regardless, it was a lot of fun and I look forward to many more years with Dana.

Trip to Phoenix
I just returned from a fantastic trip to Phoenix, AZ. I took the trip to capture Scott and Amanda’s wedding (to be posted later). I stayed with my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins. I got to watch my cousin Jake’s performance in his Junior High School production of the Music Man. It was impressive! The following day my Aunt Elaine and I went to the Legacy art gallery in Scottsdale that I wanted to check out on our way to the wedding. Elaine was a huge help at the wedding and thanks to my new GPS unit, I was able to get everywhere without a problem!
I was warmly welcomed to the “Jones Hotel.”

During my stay I visited one of my closest friends from high school. We took a fine trip to the zoo. She and her husband moved to Arizona for a teaching job. She has the most adorable little children. And those curls in Addie’s hair are natural!

Early Saturday morning, my cousins wanted to play on the quad before taking off for a joy ride in the desert.

Seattle Orientation Project
A couple of our friends came to Seattle for a visit this weekend. Jess was my roommate in college and Kevin was one of “the guys.” My husband and I decided to initiate them as Seattlites. First off it was Seattle Center, and then Pikes Place, and finally seagull feeding on the pier. The beautiful rainy day helped! Thanks Jess and Kevin for stopping by!

A new lens today!
Hi folks, I bought a new macro lens today! For photographers, it is a 60mm F/2.8 EFS lens from Canon. Watch out brides, I will now be able to capture stellar images of your rings and accessories. I am so excited by my new family member, I took a walk and captured some images to share. Enjoy!

Dinners Done Right!
I discovered something new and fantastic this weekend and I want to share it with everyone! Saturday my husband and I went to a place called Dinners Done Right where together we made 12 full-size dinners in less than an hour. The dinners are resting comfortably in our freezer. Today we made pork tenderloins and herb roasted potatoes with rolls and veggies on the side. Pop it in the oven, and whoolah! Restaurant quality dinners for two. Is it not a simply beautiful thing?
