New website!

My new website is up and running! Please let me know what you think. I have moved to a faster server so you may notice that your proofing galleries will load faster. Also, you can access your pictures from the website! Just let your family and friends know about the website and they will be able to see your pictures by going to the “clients” page! I have also added more ways for brides to find us. You can now find In A Frame Photography at The Knot, Banquet and Event, and My Seattle Wedding

I am aware that some links that you may have bookmarked or saved may not work anymore with the move to a new server — so please let me know as soon as possible and I will resolve the issue!

Orcas Island Wedding

Angel and Hannah’s were married on Orcas Island on Friday. They were married in the absolute cutest chapel on the planet, the Victorian Valley Chapel. These two gave me a lot of freedom to take pictures throughout the day. We started out at the Celtic Beauty Salon in Eastsound for hair and make up and then headed off to the reception cabin to get dressed and add finishing touches. We met up with Angel to capture their “first glance” and do some couple portraits. The ceremony was just perfect. The reception followed with a touching toast. Thank you Angel and Hannah for a wonderful time!

I love doing weddings on Orcas Island as it is where my husband and I were married just over a year ago. In fact, this was the first time we came back. We stayed on the Island Saturday and enjoyed some hikes and the Solstice Parade. Below is a picture of the viewpoint from our marriage spot from Little Summit on Mount Constitution. Breathtaking!

Race for the cure!

This morning started early, at quest field for the 14th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Thanks to Jen from Every Moment Photo for organizing a few photographers to have the opportunity to volunteer! I came to capture promotional photos for their website and thankyou cards. Once pledges and other donations are tallied, the race will have raised nearly two million toward medical research and education for the treatment and prevention of breast cancer. The day was a pink explosion, and women wearing pink t-shirts were breast cancer survivors. It was a lot of fun and very motivational. These women are tough!

Trash the dress!

Say what?? Yes! “Forget throwing your wedding dress in a plastic bag and storing in the attic,” says a recent article in The New York Times. Hold a photo session in which you wear your dress and do anything from “swimming in it, wearing it on horseback, even burning it.”

In response to some inquires in the past about doing “trash the dress” sessions, I want to let all my 2007 brides that I am very enthusiastic about the idea! A photographer’s artistic dream come true. Please let me know if you are interested.

New York City!

My husband and I took off after the wedding to New York City by greyhound bus (only $20/ticket!). After arriving at the station in the late evening we walked by timesquare on the way to our hotel. The following day we saw all the sights from the top of the empire state bulding, browsed the vast collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, row boated in the rain at Central Park, and dined in Little Italy. Unfortunately we had to leave the next day. I have traveled the lengths of the US and Europe, but this is my first time in New York City and I was very impressed. We managed to use the subways and trains without ever stepping into a cab. You gotta love mass public transit!

We purchased an inexpensive digital camera to use for travel. It wasn’t soon before I missed the flexibility and control I have with my pro gear. But, it served it’s purpose as an easy to carry way to document our trip. Gee, it’s amazing how small these things are!

Michelle and Trevor

I had the opportunity to shoot my friend’s wedding in Stafford, Virginia this past weekend. Michelle was my roommate for a few of my college years. She was all smiles throughout the day. Her new hubby was her high-school sweetheart reaquainted after 5 years. They are back together now without ever skipping a beat. I absolutely love the poem Trevor wrote to her.

The Reunion

I looked into her eyes,
Trying to keep her gaze;
Not knowing if I should try
To bring back our better days.

My query now answered,
I hold her closer and closer.
Her embrace remembered well,
I felt in my heart
What I saw in her eyes.

Honey, Sweetheart,
I?m finally home.

Trevor proposed at the spot where they first kissed (aka the mall parking lot). Her ring is an Irish Claddagh ring. The heart in the ring stands for love, the hands stand for friendship and the crown stands for loyalty. Both of these rings are so beautiful and unique.

DeNeal and Todd

While in Whitefish, I had the opportunity to do engagement pictures for DeNeal and Todd. I will capture their wedding in Montana on 07-07-07. They are such a fun couple and I look forward to their wedding. The park they choose was beautiful and we even saw baby ducklings.
